—- Message from Consul General —
Dear citizens,
President Mori will be visiting Honolulu to meet with Chuukese citizens from February 3-6, 2015. The main purpose of the meeting is to meet with citizens of Chuuk State on the political status initiative spearheaded by the so-called Chuuk Political Commission who had visited Hawaii twice in the past. There will be two meetings: First meeting will be with the general Chuukese citizenry on February 4, 2015 from 4:30PM to 9:30PM at the Ke’ehi Lagoon Memorial Park where elections are normally held. The second meeting is with the Chuukese leadership here in Hawaii (e.g. church leaders and officials, civic and former civic leaders and officials, business leaders, cultural leaders/elders, civil society members, educators/teachers, and prominent citizens known for their activism and commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of our citizens. The leadership meeting will be from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at the same venue on February 5, 2015. There are a good many of you out there, including those copied this message. Please spread the word to Chuukese you know as well as Chuukese community leaders and/or elders so that they can take this opportunity to hear from our President and his staff about the latest development on the Chuuk political status initiative. Needles to say but I will say it anyway, the importance of this political initiative cannot be overemphasized should it clear in the affirmative the voting majority of our people.
I apologize for including our friends and partners from other States in our federation as well as those partners from this Aloha State. Please assist us in informing chuukese citizens and leaders you know about these two meetings. If you will be kind enough to post this meeting announcement on your blog, please do so and I thank you all very much for your usual kind assistance and support. Please do feel free to contact us for any clarification.
The visit will be taking place only here in Honolulu due to time constraints as President and his delegation are visiting Chuuk State and its outlying islands for the same reason. If you can come from Big Island, Maui, Kauai or if you are visiting Honolulu around this time, please join us as we very much value your views, comments and concerns.
Thank you very much, and Mahalo Nui Loa,
Kandhi A. Elieisar
