Today, the Saipan Tribune published an article entitled, “Resolution has implications on FSM citizens,” in which CNMI and Guam leadership weigh in on the congressional resolution from the FSM Congress. The article quoted Governor Eloy S. Inos through Press secretary Ivan A. Blanco, US Congresswoman Madeline Bordallo, and CNMI Congressman Arnold Palacios.
“The administration of Gov. Eloy S. Inos understands the concerns posed by Federated States of Micronesia citizens living in the CNMI about a resolution introduced in the FSM Congress that calls for the early termination of its Compact of Free Association with the United States. The Compact allows FSM citizens to travel freely, live, and work in the United States and its territories, including the CNMI.” – Read full article>
Fin-Nipwe says
The US has nothing to loose if the Compact ends in two years(2018).
Loosing the rights and privilege to access our ( FSM) lands, sea and airspace freely, won’t cause any major effects on their (US) economy and military power. The US had major allies in the whole Pacific Ocean. Guam and CNMI in the north, Palau in the west, Australia & New Zealand in the south, and Marshall Islands and Hawaii in the east.
Therefore, which ever nation(s) take over the FSM, will be stucked in the middle with no ” EXITS” at all. Militarily, the US will remain the Pacific Ocean super power.
To our congressmen aka terminators, please stop with this nonsense and come up with something fruitful and will help our nation economically.
What have you done to the 30 plus illegal refugees detained on Yap state since 11/2014? They are putting a huge strain on the Yap community and much concern about the health of the community. Have you reach out to the international community for assistance? Maybe not! Too busy introducing ” termination bill”
Be our productive leaders instead of less productive!
